Anita Rose Satanosky Tenney

Anita Rose Satanosky Tenney, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, educator, and friend, passed away in Cleveland, Ohio, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 76 years old. Anita was born in New York City on April 16, 1950, to Isaac (Iche) and Zoila (Shendil Dvora) Satanosky. At just three months old, she moved with her family to Havana, Cuba, where she spent her childhood until returning to the United States at age 11. Growing up between two cultures became an important part of who Anita was and helped shape her lifelong love of language, art, literature, education, and Latin American culture. Anita dedicated much of her professional life to education, with a particular passion for the Spanish language. She earned a master's degree in Latin American Literature from New York University and spent many years tutoring students of all ages in Spanish, sharing not only her knowledge of the language but also her love for people and connection. When she wasn't devoting her time to her daughters or students, she was exercising her creativity in one of a myriad of ways. From the gorgeously artful clothing she wore to her searches for treasures at art shows and markets, her love for those around her extended to the beautiful things she found for each person in her life. On her most favorite days, those creative adventures or a cozy day on the sofa were accompanied by her gran-dog-er, Riley. Anita was the beloved wife of William David Tenney and the devoted mother of Rebecca Sattler (Johnathan Sattler) and Rachel Mira. She was the cherished daughter of Zoila Satanosky and the loving sister of Selmo Satanosky. She was preceded in death by her father, Isaac Satanosky. Those who knew Anita will remember her gift for pulling you into a story completely, and a warmth that lit up any room, drawing people to her effortlessly. She formed deep and lasting friendships throughout her life, and had a natural creativity that let her make, repair, or solve almost anything. She was artistic, expressive, unmistakably stylish, often adorned in her own creations, brilliant, brave, and an incredible mother to her two children. Anita leaves behind not only the people who loved her, but the stories, laughter, memories, and pieces of herself that will continue through them. Her family and friends will carry her with them, in the stories they tell, the laughter she taught them to find, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
